Drama, Serial Humsafar – Review (Hum TV)

Khirad: 

At a tender age she had lost her parents. She is simple, adorable and shy girl, completed her bachelors. Despite all this she is really attached to her tradition and dresses herself traditionally. She belongs to a middle class family, whose father was a school master at government school. Khirad has always given importance to her morals and ethics and on top of it the prior respect to her elders. She does not talk a lot.

Ashar: 

Luxurious brought up, yet a devoted-to-work gentleman. He is not just a workaholic he too is a nature loving individual. He is an obedient son who prefers the decisions made by his father. Being financially stable person he does not have arrogance.

Sarah: 

A career passionate girl, who wants to earn and be part of social functions. She is a girl who does not wish but virtually gets it. She does not like the interference of any one not even her mother and her attitude is at hype.

Review: 

Upon the request and insistence of Ashar’s dad, Ashar agreed on the proposal of Khirad. But Ashar`s mom was against this proposal. The prior reason, she belonged to a middle class background. She too had issue with Khirad`s dad being a government school master and she could not meet the demands of a well settled high class family along with it she was that she was an orphan.

Despite all these issues, the wedlock took place successfully. There was one person who for the most part suffered was Sarah. She was completely against this wedding. The craze on her nerves reached to extend that she tried to commit suicide. She was eventually hospitalized and all this was over-looked by Ashar. On the other hand side, Asher`s mom accepts Khirad as her daughter-in-law.

The wed-bond goes on strengthening in terms of love and affection. Both,Ashar and Khirad trying to understand each other’s way of thinking. Their respects of each other too increases and appreciate their reason of being together. This ultimately results in edifice of trust between them.

On day Asher`s dad gets heart-attack which causes to be severe. He oath’s Ashar to show supportive and kind attitude to Khirad and that they should plan to grow the family. Ashar promises his dad and the soul of his dad was retrieved. At this summit Ashar started to love Khirad even more.

This affection and trust brought Khirad to ask Ashar for permission. This permission was to pursue her higher studies and allow her to join university. This permission was a turning point of their relation despite the permission was granted. There were no issues regarding her persuasion of studies by her mother-in-law either.

Keeping in mind her moral and ethic, she went to university with her scarf on head. Everything went normal. A balance was in house life and university life. But gradually distances arouse between Ashar and Khirad. The friends group of Khirad included a guy called Khizar (later found to be Sarah`s cousin). He, on and off used to call Khirad for help in assignments. This was not akin to Ashar yet did not tell Khirad. Khizar without permission used to visit her regardless of time. Going on hang outs with friends and giving them more time had resulted in giving Ashar comparative less attention.

One day Khizar had met an accident and required blood urgently. Khirad was the only friend having the same blood group as that of Khizar. Thus, she gave him without telling Ashar. This too made Ashar distressed, yet remained unspoken. Ashar was not able to focus on his work in the office; he had some what adopted the attitude of being discourteous. This made more distance between the relation of Ashar and Khirad. Since, Ashar was to a certain extent silent and did tell anything to anyone. This change mood was observed by Khirad and Ashar`s mom.

This continued, and on consistent solicit of Khirad did not work either. This made Khirad starve and not attend university. Asher went out of town for an official visit. This official visit made both of them re-call the split seconds spend together. Khirad was at the same time given the news to pregnancy which she kept as a surprise for Asher, this surprise to reveal when Asher returns home. She was anxious to tell this news to him. But it’s exactly said “no one can predict the future”.

Khizar`s mom had invited Khirad and her mother-in-law at their place. All went smooth and stand out until Khirad had gone to the kitchen. Khirad was busy in making cuisine when Khizar entered the kitchen to drink a glass of water. Intentionally poured the glass onto her dress and had taken the neck scarf off despite she kept on requesting it to be returned. During all this Asher, Asher`s mom and Khizar`s mom entered the kitchen. Here you would definitely say “What you see is what you believe” but this did not go in this particular scene. As per our society it’s the girl who has to be questioned for what happens despite it is not at all the girl`s fact. This happened with Khirad. She was questioned, she was blamed to be characterless and having an affair with Khizar. All these allege were wrong. Here, Ashar kept unspoken, in grief and heartbroken just how could this happen.

On the other hand side, Khirad kept on begging Khizar to say the truth. He completely turned the story opposite, saying that there is a bond of affection between them. Khirad completely denied and fell on the floor when her mother in law slapped her. Ashar did not listen to Khirad and left her helpless and alone.

Khizar had revealed the reason of hiding the truth in front everyone. His concern was to get Sarah as her life partner and to go to US for his studies. Ashar`s mom who was initially against the wed-lock used Khizar as a cause of their break-up. Ashar`s mom agreed to bare Khizar`s expenses for his study in US.

Khirad went back home, kept on waiting for Ashar. But Ashar`s mom made her leave her home, without meeting Ashar. You can say that Ashar`s mom played a character of a true Eastern mother-in-law.

Now that Khirad and Ashar got separated. Khirad has come to her maternal aunt and has taken shelter at her place. Will there be a point when the misunderstandings between them will end? Will there be someone who would come and resolve this issue? Is there a optimism of ray in this relation?
